Boat Tail marks a seminal moment in the annals of Rolls-Royce. As a truly hand-built, one-of-a-kind creation, in which both the bodywork and interior are designed and produced to the client’s specification, Rolls-Royce Coachbuild redraws the boundaries of luxury and opens vast new possibilities for patrons of contemporary design and fine craftsmanship. If you now dream to be the proud owner of a Boat Tail, you must have extremely deep pockets, because Rolls-Royce asks 23 million Euro for this masterpiece.

The first Boat Tail that was recently unveiled at the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como, is intended for a collector couple who already own a restored 1932 Rolls Royce Boat Tail and according to rumors to be the singer Beyonce and the rapper Jay-Z.

In 2018, Rolls-Royce presented the Sweptail and, at the request of customers, three boat tails are now being created, which are based on the hull shape of sailboats. All three Rolls Royce Boat Tail are based on a body shape but are individually designed for the individual client. The Boat Tail uses Rolls Royce’s new luxury platform architecture, the same platform as the Phantom.

Rolls Royce particularly emphasizes the linear wood design made of Caleidolegno veneer of the rear, which is reminiscent of a yacht deck. But the real highlight of the Boat Tail is under the stern cover. The two deck wings open at the push of a button and reveal a unique interior: a picnic kitchen which makes you speechless. One side is dedicated to the aperitif, the other side houses the kitchen with the special Boat-Tail cutlery designed by Christofle in Paris.

The double refrigerator specially developed for the boat tail,- cools the champagne to exactly six degrees Celsius. The bezels are highly polished and color-coordinated with the bottles. An extendable telescopic parasol as well as cocktail tables and two stools complete this picnic equipment, which can no longer be surpassed in terms of exclusivity.

The body is in different shades of blue, which correspond excellent to the colorcoordinated rims and with the interior, which is kept in blue leather. Since the new owners of the first Boat Tail are not only passionate collectors of exquisite vehicles, but are also collectors of high-quality pens, Rolls-Royce has – as one of many gadgets – a particularly rare Montblanc pen in a discreetly placed, handcrafted housing made of aluminum and Leather placed in the glove compartment. In cooperation with the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Bovet Rolls-Royce, two watches have been developed that can be worn on the wrist or attached to the cockpit of the boat tail.
