The Galery Everard Read London presents Sentinels (2020), a major exhibition of monumental sculptures and more than 30 new paintings, created over the past two years by Deborah Bell, one of South Africa’s most eminent and critically acclaimed artists.

Bell is fascinated by ancient civilizations and their excavated artifacts. Her work incorporates powerful images and layered visual, symbolic, and iconographic references of past and present worlds

At the heart of this exhibition are eight towering, 2.5-meter-high sentinels.
Cast in bronze, these figures seem to hold the work in focus amidst the chaos of the world. They are observers, occupying a place of stillness and reflection.
