Austrian Polo Open at Schloss Ebreichsdorf

The Polo Austrian Open took place on the premises of Poloclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf. Four teams, Team Tagmersheim, Team Schloss Ebreichsdorf, Team Black and Team Niederweiden competed with each other. Three days of excitement and sunshine awaited and entertained the Polo enthusiasts.

In spite of a suddenly threatening thunderstorm, two matches on the first day were played and finished, without any incident, by the four playing Teams. The spectators were almost blown away during the second game; but most of them resistet the sudden strong gusts and congratulated the players for their endurance. Even after having made a rather bad fall, Robert Kofler from Team Black got back on his horse and finished the game

On the second day the sun was shining again and the Tournament went on with the first match at 3.30 PM. It was followed  by a Carriage and Coach Presentation – to be particularly mentioned a Landauer built 1880 by Lohner, the most famous carriage builder in those days in Austria, such as a cabriolet built around 1900, both in perfect condition – and more modern horsepower offered by Sponsor Bentley, which rounded up the attraction of the afternoon.

On the final day, Poloclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf President Richard Drasche-Wartinberg invited all guests and spectators to a traditional Austrian buffet prior to the price giving ceremony on the polofield in front of the castle. Especially to note: the youngest player, 13 year old Peter Wahl, scored a spectacular goal for his Team, Team Black, which won the Tournament with a final score 6:3 against Team Niederweiden.
